like a moth to a flame burned by the fire

You come back to haunt me
You are a plague endemic to my mind
This state of limbo has lasted too long
I need an answer
I ask you for closure

buatlah secara spontan

As much as I like to plan things beforehand, I'm starting to think that my subconscious thrives on spontaneity.

Such was the overall theme of the 3-day weekend thanks to the Hari Raya Haji break on Friday. From spontaneous birthday party cookouts, spontaneous overnighters at Keith's, to a last minute spontaneous decision to travel up to Mengelembu for dinner, the weekend rocked my world.

Li Yien turns 24.

We went through a pretty detailed history lesson on Gasing love stories...tee hee.

Leaving KL...see the twin towers shimmering in the distance. Yeah, it was a desperate shot taken when we were already going down the hill on the other side.

First stop...Wah Chai Seafood Restaurant in Mengelembu.

Mengelembu yummies laid out before us.

Beer and seafood walk hand in hand. Cheers!

Just bummin' outside the Ipoh police HQ...the safest place in town!

Danny had to endure much for this perfect shot...heheh

the most miserable day of 2005

Be warned. The most miserable day of 2005 is nigh.

By using a complex mathematical formula, psychologist Cliff Arnalls has calculated that the misery is about to peak in four days' time. *gasp!* This was what he had to say, "Fading memories of Christmas, mounting festive debts, foul weather, failed New Year resolutions and the long, dark nights create the perfect mix for gloom."

While the long, dark nights don't apply to us tropical folk, we probably can relate to the many holidays in January and February, namely Hari Raya Haji, Thaipusam, Federal Territory Day, Chinese New Year, and Awal Muharram. Actually in our Malaysian context, I expect the most miserable day of 2005 to hit us sometime between end-Feb to early March.

Be warned.

the rise of the dark side

The latest Mr Potato Head action figure, Darth Tater!

before there was time

Before there was time
There were visions in Your mind
There was death in the fall of mankind
But there was life in salvation's design
Before there were days
There were nights I could not see Your face
But the night could not keep me from grace
When You came and took my place

So I cry holy only begotten Son of God
Ancient of days
I cry holy only begotten Son of God
And sing the praises
Of the One who saved me
And the promises He made

Before there was time
You counted the hairs on my head
You knew all the words I've said
And You purchased me back from the dead
Before I was made
You searched me and knew my ways
You numbered all my days
And You set forth the steps I would take

You saved me, You raised me
You saved me, You pulled me from the grave

karipap

I just ate not one, but two day-old currypuffs from Petaling Street. Supposedly very critically acclaimed stuff from opposite Maybank.

Still good.

*burp*

stink stank stunk

My room stank last night.

Fortunately, my clothes didn't stink this morning.

A-2-6

I had a pretty good time catching up with Adrian and Cindy last night. The host and hostess were splendid and gracious in hosting their very important guest...ME! It had been quite some time since we had last met, but the months just rolled back as we shared from our lives. Thanx.

I must say that Cita Damansara rocks! For those not in the know, it's a condominium in Sunway Damansara, and it's pretty identifiable by its two identical blocks with cascading roofs. The whole place just emanates with this resort feel. *you are now feeling re-laaaaaaxed* Plus the rain that poured before had I arrived washed roads clean and left droplets of water on trees and plants. Nice.

And there was pasta...now how can one fault pasta? =) Good stuff...basil leaves, oregano, black pepper and all. Not to mention Hershey's chocs and fruit cocktail ice-cream for dessert. Yum.

Adrian: The passage was taken from Isaiah 5, not Psalm 6. Read ;)

happy burst-day Adrian (2005.01.03)

Entertaining ourselves with "Extreme" Jenga while waiting for the others to arrive.

The birthday boy and his chocolate cake.

Ewww...facial hair and chocolate cake don't mix.

Eye-popping stuff for the gals. Adrian and his way-too-small Radiohead shirt.

Not HAPPY ah??!!

Photo in a photo. Fie snaps a shot of Gabe and Wenz.

A little creativity, a Barney gift wrapper, and a willing subject, and...

Chef Pierre (of moist orange 'khhheckk' fame) is back!

Don't let the images of calm deceive you as we settled down for a crazy time of...

BOGGLE!!

"Fie" is NOT a word!! Dictionary!!

back and in a new year

It's a brand new year and it's back to work.

Well, not that I've been lazing around for the past week or so (can't do that since I used up all my leave entitlement in early December), but I just felt a sense of greater urgency and importance in coming back to work today. I figure it probably draws from the realisation that just about the whole city wakes up from its year-end slumber today, from the workforce coming back from the Christmas cum New Year break, and the school-going tots also back from holidays.

Needless to say, all this translates to more vehicles on the road, cars, motorcycles and buses alike, leading to the familiar morning and evening bumper-to-bumper crawls in this lurve-ly city of traffic jams, Kuala Lumpur.

I want the world to go back on holiday.
